Watch Video: Back To Back Beef, Olamide Vs Don Jazzy at the Headies 2015.

Things got very very interesting a few minutes ago at the 2015 Headies Awards when Olamide (and the whole YBNL crew) escorted Adekunle Gold on stage to collect his award for “Best Alternative Song”.
Leading up to this heated moment; things were already quite tense as everyone anticipated the winner of the coveted “Next Rated Award”.
The Next Rated Award comes with a lot of recognition (and the bonus of a brand Hyundai Car).
While a lot of people expected Lil Kesh to win, the award went to Mavin artist Reekado Banks.
So when Adekunle Gold came on stage with the whole YBNL crew, it was inevitable that the CEO Olamide would take the microphone to speak his mind.
Olamide went OFF on the Headies saying the award should have gone to Lil Kesh as he had back to back hit songs all year round. Olamide stated “Ko ni da fun Iya anybody” (A Yoruba expletive involving the mother of the recipient) and flipped off the whole hall before throwing his drink on stage and storming off with his crew.
Just when we thought things had ended, Don Jazzy was given a Special Recognition award and in his speech he stated that he has never liked awards and the only reason he came for the show was to support his “children”. He also stated that he had told Reekado Banks and Korede Bello (who were both nominated for Next Rated) that he’d buy cars for them.
Don Jazzy ended the night with a bombshell saying “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car come and collect it. God bless you”. He and the Mavin artists then stormed out of the venue.
Catch a glimpse of the exchange below.

  1. Honestly, I feel Olamide and Don Jazzy were both right and wrong. I understand Olamide's frustration ( I feel lil kesh had a better musical year with Shoki) however, there is a time and place for everything, and in the process of speaking out, all attention was taken away from Adekunle Gold (who was probably happy to win). That being said, I can see why Don Jazzy responded, bc in the process of defending lil kesh, Olamide was implying that Reekado Banks didn't deserve to win...And as the father figure, Don Jazzy wanted to defend his artist as well. But I don't think it was right for him to call Olamide by name, especially since Olamide didn't mention names. There is a time and place for everything, and I don't think the Headies stage was it

  2. Don Jazzy Shouldn't have asked Olamide to come and collect the car, he could get the car; but he felt he was robbed and again if the award had gone to Korede Bello it would have been better.

  3. I don’t think Olamide was thinking straight. Ko ni da fun Iya anybody, was a statement to the organisers, to the mavins, to you, to me, to anybody that cared to listen including the fans who has supported him. He might later come out to clarify his statement when he is sober but such behaviour is unbecoming of an ambassador, not just an ambassador of Etisalat but an ambassador of Nigeria. Don Jazzy was under pressure to respond, he could have thought long and hard about what to say. But there’s no reaction without an action.
