Watch Your Utterances – Niger Delta Militants Issue Serious Warning To COAS Buratai

A recent statement credited to the army
boss, Lt General Tukur Burutai reveals the
Nigerian army would employ the use of
force to suppress the Niger Delta militants
destroying oil facilities at the failure of
peaceful negotiation.
This has infuriated one of the influential
Niger Delta militant groups named the
Movement for the Emancipation of the
Niger Delta, MEND trying to broker peace
in the region, according to the Vanguard.
The group on Monday night cautioned
Burutai, to stick to his principal
responsibility and stop making political
and inciting statements.
MEND in a statement by its spokesperson,
Jomo Gbomo, frowned at comments,
Monday, in Port Harcourt by Burutai that
military authorities would resort to the
use of force if dialogue to resolve the
current Niger-Delta crisis fails.
The militant group asserted: "MEND
hereby makes it clear that General
Buratai's statement is insensitive,
provocative, unprofessional and prejudicial
to the fair outcome of the ongoing
preliminary talks regarding the Niger Delta
crisis between representatives of oil
companies and security agencies, on the
one hand; and the Movement for the
Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND),
on the other hand.
"We, therefore, warn the Chief of Army
Staff to guard his utterances, refrain from
making political and inflammatory
statements and stick to his primary
responsibility."
On its controversial dialogue with the
federal government, it said: "We use this
medium to appeal to the good people of
the Niger Delta to remain patient with the
administration of President Muhammadu
Buhari."
The group urged them to "keep hope alive
as MEND and the Aaron Team 2 Dialogue,
Peace and Development Initiative, led by
Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, and HRH King
Alfred Papapreye Diette-Spiff are working
assiduously to secure sustainable
concessions for the region from the
government."
"While MEND has already kick-started the
dialogue process with the ongoing
preliminary talks, the Aaron Team made
up of distinguished and accomplished
personalities from the region, are waiting
on the sidelines to conclude the dialogue
process. "r

Revealed: Why Babangida Removed Me From Power – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said
he was removed from office 31 years
ago because he was planning to purge
the military hierarchy of
corruption.Buhari, who has not spared
the military even in his ongoing anti-
corruption war, said senior military
leaders, led by a former military
president, General Ibrahim Babangida,
and General Aliyu Gusau, removed him
in August 1985, to save themselves
from his wrath.
In an exclusive interview published in the
current edition of The Interview magazine,
Buhari challenged Babangida and Gusau, to
tell the truth on why they carried out the
coup against him.
"I learnt," he said, "that Aliyu Gusau, who
was in charge of intelligence, took import
licence from the Ministry of Commerce
which was in charge of supplies and gave it
to Alhaji Mai Deribe.
"It was worth N100,000, a lot of money at
that time. I confronted them and took the
case to the Army Council in a memo...I
wanted Gusau punished."
In a statement on www.theinterview.com.ng,
the Managing Director/Editor-in-chief of The
Interview, Azu Ishiekwene, said, "This is one
edition that won't let sleeping dogs lie."
Babangida had told The Interview in its
December edition that there was nothing in
the memo which Buhari said he submitted to
the Army Council.
"Don't forget that I was one of Buhari's
closest aides. I was the chief of army staff.
So, I had an important position, an important
role to play in that administration. I don't
think it had to do with a memo," Babangida
said.
But in a tone which revealed that the past
might neither have been forgotten nor
forgiven, Buhari challenged Babangida and
Gusau to come clean on why they removed
him, asking The Interview to choose whose
story to believe.
He also fielded questions about his health,
the 2016 budget, the pace of his
government, former President Goodluck
Jonathan and why Mr. Babatunde Raji
Fashola was handed three ministerial
portfolios.
The edition also features interviews with
Liberian presidential hopeful, Mr. Winston
Tubman, and retired Justice Dahiru Saleh,
the controversial judge whose court
nailed June 12.
And in an interview which indicates that the
battle for 2019 could be well and truly
underway, pharmacist and Rotarian, Dr.
Mike Omotosho, aims at the Kwara State
government house.
His roadmap would give rivals sleepless
nights.

Breaking: Fire Engulfs Apapa- Oshodi Expressway As Petrol Tanker Explodes

News reaching MDB this Monday evening is
that a petrol tanker has exploded on the
Apapa-Oshodi Expressway some minutes
ago.
The tanker ia said to have gone up in flames
after catching fire at Cele Bus Stop inward
Oshodi.
As at press time, the inferno had spread
across the entire expressway, even
preventing those bound for Apapa from
having access.
This has led to serious traffic, especially for
those heading towards Oshodi.
Kindly use alternate routes and warn
friends and family of the situation report.

Again, Avengers blow up NNPC gas pipeline in A-Ibom

Niger Delta Avengers on Sunday night
allegedly blew up the Nigeria National
Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, gas
pipeline at Nsite Ibom Local Government
Area, Akwa Ibom State.
The claim has not been independently
confirmed, but spokesperson of the
militant group, self-styled Brig Gen
Mudoch Agbinibo, in a statement,
challenged NNPC to "check their pipeline
if it is 'system anomaly.' "
The statement read: "At 11:30pm on
Sunday, the NDA blow up Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC), gas pipeline at Nsit-Ibom L.G.A,
Akwa Ibom state. NNPC should check
their pipeline if it's "system Anomaly".
Asking the NNPC to check if it was
system anomaly is an allusion to the
exchange between the militant group and
Exxon Mobil, which initially denied an
attack on its export line in Akwa-Ibom
state, saying that it was a system
anomaly, only to declare force majeure
days later.
